Carol Dene Goodwin, 89, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Center Twp., Greene County, Pa. died at 2:47 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 in the Golden Living Center, Waynesburg after being in failing health for the past three months.
She was born February 16, 1926 in Waynesburg a daughter of the late George Dewey and Doris Elsie Tharp Parson and was a 1944 graduate of the former Waynesburg High School.
Mrs. Goodwin had resided in Center Twp. from 1946 until moving to Waynesburg in 2010.
She was a member and church treasurer of the former South Ten Mile Baptist Church and was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church at the time of her death.
Mrs. Goodwin was also a member of the former Harveys Grange #1444 and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, bowling and playing cards.
She was last employed as a cashier at the former Waynesburg College Snack Bar for 23 years prior to retiring in 1987.
On August 7, 1946 she married Ralph Irving Goodwin who died November 18, 2009.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita, wife of Spencer Roberts of Southern Pines, NC., and Joyce, wife of Harry L. Watson of Center Twp; two sons, Johnny Bill, husband of Dede Goodwin of Houston, Texas and Tom, husband of Cindy Goodwin of Center Twp; seven grandchildren, Wesley and Haden Watson, Brandi Ballard, Colby, Michelle, Zachery and Tyler Goodwin; two great grandchildren, Grady Thomas Goodwin and Rush Watson; a sister, Donnis, wife Carl Hoy of Spraggs; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are son, Darwin Eugene Goodwin who died at birth; a grandson, Justin Watson; a sister, Madolyn Dixie Orndoff; a brother, Lloyd A. Parson.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 8, 2015 with Rev. Bruce Judy officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or the Diabetes Foundation.
