Carl E. Pete Bowman, 85, of West Alexander, Pa. died at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va. after being in failing health for the past several years.
He was born August 22, 1930 in Wheeling, W.Va. a son of Mae Tennant. Mr. Bowman was raised from a young age by his aunt and uncle, Clyde Ellsworth and Dorothy Selina Byers Wright.
Mr. Bowman formerly attended the West Alexander United Methodist Church and attended the West Alexander Schools.
He and his late wife were the co-owners and operators of the former Bowman Sanitation in West Alexander for over 20 years, and was employed by the former Valley Camp Coal Company in Triadelphia, W.Va., for over 10 years, a maintenance contractor with the West Alexander Post Office, and was also employed as a custodian with the McGuffey School District prior to retirement.
Mr. Bowman enjoyed mowing grass, watching baseball and football on television, gardening, watching old westerns, and was a family tease.
On September 15, 1962 he married Geneva Jenny Marie Oliver who died March 1, 2005.
Surviving are a son, Steven Bowman at home; a daughter, Gini Lynn (Wendy) Hoover of Kittanning; a foster brother, Kenneth, husband of Sherry Wright of West Alexander; a foster sister, Ruby Verno of Claysville; several foster nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his mother and foster parents are five foster sisters, Betty Ullom, Mabel Rice, Ida B. Dorsey, Lynn Smith and Dorothy Wright who died in infancy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the West Alexander United Methodist Church, 162 Main Street, West Alexander, PA 15376 with Rev. Daniel Grimes, officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. Rogersville, PA 15359.
Private interment will be held in the West Alexander Cemetery.
