Carl R. Ealy, 84, of Washington, Pa. and formerly of Claysville, Pa. (Morris Township) died Wednesday, August 25, 2004 in the Breese Rest Home Claysville, Pa.He was born May 3, 1920 in East Finley Township, a son of John Bentley and Nellie Edie Ashbrook Ealy and had resided in Morris Township since 1945.Mr. Ealy was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church where he formerly served as a trustee and formerly served as Superintendent for 30 years.He was a 1938 graduate of the former Morris Township High School in Prosperity.Mr. Ealy was also a life member and past master of the Claysville Masonic Lodge 447 FAM and was a member of the Temple Association when the new lodge was built in Claysville, and was also a member of the Syria Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S.He was also a member of the Gideon International, West Camp, Washington, Pa., the Washington County Farm Bureau, and the James R. Hunt American Legion Post 639 in Claysville, and the Claysville Senior Citizens where he was part of the sight council and was a former member of the Fairmount Cemetery Board. Mr. Ealy was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U.S. Army as a T/5 with the 644th Tank Battalion. He owned and operated a small dairy until 1975 and later raised beef cattle and sheep until the 1990's.On October 8, 1943 he married Sylvia EtaLou Stollar Ealy who died July 9, 2000.Surviving are a sister, Martha Martin of Rushville, Ohio; a sister in law, Thelma Flint Ealy of Tampa, Florida; several nieces and nephews.Deceased are four brothers, Ralph, Martin, Howard and Eugene Ealy; five sisters, Leona Wright, Mary Ealy, Mildred Edwards, Helen Dorsey and Louise Ealy who died in infancy.The Claysville Masonic Lodge 447 FAM will hold a memorial service at 12 noon in the church. Graveside military rites will be accorded by the Claysville American Legion Post 639.
