Betty Carroll Walker of Claysville, Pa. died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, February 16, 2004 in her home.She was born July 3, 1924 in Claysville a daughter of William Aaron and Elizabeth P. Jackson Carroll and had resided in Claysville all her life.Mrs. Walker was a member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church where she had served as an elder, benevolence treasurer and Sunday school teacher.She was a 1942 graduate of Claysville High School, the Washington Women's Seminary and graduated summa cum laude from Bethany College in 1950 with a degree in Psychology.Mrs. Walker was formerly employed as a social worker by the Washington office of the Department of Public Assistance, and she had served as the custodian at the Claysville United Presbyterian Church from 1980 until 1998 and was last employed as a mail clerk in the Claysville Post Office from 1975 until her retirement in 1996.She was a member of the Evening Star Chapter 187, O.E.S. of Claysville.On September 16, 1950 she married Max Ringland Walker who died July 27, 1968.Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Brownlee of Claysville; one sister, Joyce Emeterio of Claysville; two granddaughters, Jessica Lauren and Elizabeth Anne Brownlee; five nieces; eleven great nieces; one great great niece; four nephews and 8 great nephews.Deceased are five sisters, Emma Jean Carroll who died in infancy, Sally Westlund and Virginia Stewart; twin sisters, Wanda Scheffer and Wilda DuVall, two brothers, Willard and Frank Carroll who both died in infancy.Arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc., Rogersville, Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Hospice Care, Inc. of Washington Hospital, Leukemia Society of America or the Claysville United Presbyterian Church.
