Betty R. (Day) Johnson

Betty R. (Day) Johnson, age 92, of Waynesburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2018 while under the care of Rolling Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation.

Born August 21, 1926, in Rogersville, PA, she is the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred Ruth (Guthrie) Day.

Betty graduated in the class of 1944 from Richhill Township High School. She then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Washington Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. Betty was employed as a Registered Nurse by the Waynesburg Hospital (Washington Health System Greene) for over 16 years. In 1947, she married the late Robert T. Johnson. Betty was a member of the Unity Presbyterian Church, Graysville, PA. Her hobbies included reading, landscaping and decorating for the holidays. She also loved traveling to Wildwood Beach, New Jersey, and taking bus trips with friends, family and her former co-workers.

Surviving are two children, David R. (Sandy) Johnson and Dana R. Johnson, both of Waynesburg, PA; two nieces, Pam Winters and Sharon Grossman; five nephews, Jim Johnson, Tom Day, Jerry Johnson, Jeff Day and Brad Day; she will be sadly missed by Pete and Charlene Stofcheck and great-grandchildren Madison and Mason Stofcheck.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert T. Johnson on February 23, 2017 and her younger brother Thomas H. Day.

Friends will be received Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. (724) 499-5181 A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Donald Wilson, officiating. Betty will be laid to rest at the Greene County Memorial Park, Jefferson, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to ViaQuest Hospice, 610 Park Avenue, Monongahela, PA 15063 for the amazing care Dr. Smith and the Nursing Staff provided.
