Betty Hughes Worthington, age 87, of Holbrook, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 while under the care of Evergreen Personal Care Home, Waynesburg.

Born on September 1, 1929, in Georgetown, WV., she is the daughter of the late Arley Elwood and Mabel Ellen (Romack) McMasters.

Betty was a graduate of Waynesburg High School in 1946. She was a life long resident of Jackson Township. Betty was formerly employed with First National Bank in Waynesburg where she was a Teller Supervisor and also worked in the loan department for 25 years. Betty retired in 1994, after working for nine years at First Federal Savings and Loan in Waynesburg in the checking department. She was a former member of the Holbrook Christian Church and Macedonia Interdenominational Church where she taught Sunday School and played piano. Her hobbies included gardening, canning and sitting on her porch outside watching the cows at her farm. She raised her four young children by herself after her first husband passed away. She enjoyed teaching her children how to hunt. Betty was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Personal Care Home in Waynesburg for their dedicated care for Betty and the residents there who became a second family to her.

Surviving are her children, Linda Kay (Ronald) Dolgae, of Cortland, OH, Carl Richard (Karen) Hughes, of Cortland, OH, and Ronald H. (Taryn) Hughes, of New Freeport, PA; step-daughter, Lois (Alan) Frederick, of Bedford, PA; daughter-in-law, Donna Hughes; seven grandchildren, William Dolgae, Timothy Dolgae, Angela Gipson, Nicholas Hughes, Carl Hughes, Adam Hughes and Brad Hughes; eight step-grandchildren, Trevor Frederick, Christina Frederick, Ian Frederick, Courtney Burkhalter, Cody Morales, Casey Morales, Jason Chambers and Nicole Mason; four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Owen, Dylan and Jessica; seven step-great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carter, Lydia, Tessa, Ryan, Derek and Brooklyn; two sisters, Thelma F. Blake, of Warren Ohio, and Donna Lee DeBolt, of Newton Falls, OH; and one brother, David (Lynora) McMasters, of Warren, OH.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl R. Hughes, who passed away in 1962 and second husband Robert Noll Worthington, Jr., who passed away in 1997; her son, Raymond “Donut” Hughes and step-son Robert E. Worthington.

Friends will be received Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 3-7 P.M. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA, 15359. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Shirley Edgar, officiating. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Twp.
