Betty Bissett Babcock, 84, of Yonkers, NY and formerly of New Freeport, Pa. died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in the White Plains Hospital Center, White Plains, NY after suffering a stroke December 23.She was born July 21, 1924 in Aleppo, Pa. a daughter of Charles Christopher and Sopha Belle Clutter Bissett and resided in the state of New York for past 47 years.Mrs. Babcock was affiliated with the Church of Christ.She was 1941 graduate of the former Center Twp. High School in Rogersville.Mrs. Babcock was a charming and delightful person who enjoyed reading biographies and mysteries, had a keen interest in fashion and cherished the time she was able to spend with her family and grandchildren.She was formerly employed in apparel sales at Burt's and Boscov's Department Stores, both in Endicott, NY.On January 8, 1945 she married William Earl Babcock who died December 24, 1993.Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Babcock of Scarsdale, NY and Bonita Jame of Danbury, Conn.; three sisters, Pauline Roberts of Lodi, CA., Bonnie Barnhart of New Freeport, Pa. and Patricia Macho of Uniontown; four grandchildren, Orielan Condeelis, wife of Michael Herrington, Alex, husband of Naomi Condeelis, Robert and Abigail Jame; three great grandchildren, Willow and Dylan Herrington and Ella Rose Condeelis; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a brother, Charles Robert Bissett.
