Bernice Hewitt

Bernice I. Hewitt, 91, of Graysville, Pa. died at 7:55 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. following a brief illness. She was born December 19, 1916 in Morris Twp., Greene Co. (Time), Pa. a daughter of Francis Marion and Phoebe Ann Ewing Toland. Mrs. Hewitt had resided in North and South Carolina prior to returning to Greene County and moving to Graysville in 1977. She was a member of the Enon Baptist Church. Mrs. Hewitt enjoyed the time spent with her family and grandchildren and also enjoyed canning and listening to the Hewitt family band. On October 28, 1940 she married Don Thompson Hewitt who died June 24, 2003. Surviving is a daughter, Joan Hewitt of Graysville; two sons, Larry, husband of Deanna Hewitt of Stephens City, Va. and J. Randy Hewitt of Graysville; five grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are two grandsons, John Charles Hewitt and Don T. Hewitt II; five brothers, Marvin, Howard, Clarence, Frank and Kenneth Toland; seven sisters, Gertie Iams, Olive Amos, Wilma Amos, Minnie Miller, Lula Stollar, Vesta Yoders and Annabell Dailey. Mrs. Hewitt was the last of her immediate family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Enon Baptist Church, 333 Enon Church Rd., West Finley, Pa. 15377 or the charity of your choice.
