Arthur M. (Roe) Conklin, 84, of Buffalo Twp., Washington Co. Pa. died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. after being in declining health for the past 6 months.He was born September 15, 1925 in East Finley Twp. a son of the late Charles Clinton and Alta Rae Jones Conklin and has been a resident of Buffalo Twp. since 1956.Mr. Conklin was a member of the Enon Baptist Church and had been attending the East Buffalo Presbyterian Church for the past several years.He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge 447 FAM in Claysville and a member of the Claysville American Legion Post 639.Mr. Conklin enjoyed all sports, crossword puzzles, reading and card games, specifically pinnacle and cinch.He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army.Mr. Conklin was employed by Columbia Gas of Pa, Inc. for 35 years prior to retiring as a leakage inspector in 1987 and was a member of the former Quarter Century Club of the gas company.On July 18, 1952 he married Grace Rush who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Judi, wife of Rick Shipman of Prosperity and Vicki, wife of Michael Allender of Burnsville, Mn.; three grandchildren, Jessica Shipman Yates, Julie and Leslie Shipman; two great grandchildren, Brock and Natalie Yates; a sister, Dorothy Gashel of Claysville; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents is a daughter, Diane Lynn Conklin who died in infancy; three brothers, Raymond Conklin who died in infancy, Howard and Paul Conklin; four sisters, Hazel who died in infancy, Irene Miller, Opal Rush and Mae Roberts.
