Arlene Lazear

Arlene R. Lazear, 72, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of East View and Deep Valley died at 2:20 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2004 in Mt. Macrina Manor, Uniontown, Pa.She was born September 20, 1931 in Franklin, Pa. a daughter of Albert and Ada Belle Nicklow Hawk.Mrs. Lazear had been a resident of Allegheny County prior to moving to Greene County in 1963 where she resided in East View and Deep Valley for several years prior to moving to Waynesburg.She attended the Throckmorton United Methodist Church in East View.Mrs. Lazear was a member of the Emerald Chapter 135 O.E.S. and was also a member of the Eagles Club both in Wayneburg.She enjoyed cooking, baking and square dancing as long as health permitted.Mrs. Lazear was formerly employed as a waitress and candy maker in Pittsburgh and at Buckheimer's in Cameron, W.Va. and has been the caregiver for Mrs. Annie Tedrow of Rogersville for the past 27 years.On October 10, 1959 she married Opal (Jack) Lazear who died August 26, 1988.Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Lazear Taylor of New Freeport, R.D.#1; two sons, Donald W. Knapper of Leesville, S. Carolina and Ronald A. Knapper of Waynesburg; one brother, Edward F. Hawk of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Kitty Kovach of Grindstone, Pa., Mary Stouffer of New Cumberland, W.Va., Nina Feador of Cleveland, Ohio and Della Hawk of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Dawn Marie, Christopher, Rusty and Jack Knapper, Robert Taylor; three great grandchildren. Deceased in addition to her husband are five brothers, Henry, Charles, John William, Harry and Robert Hawk; one sister, Betty Hawk.
