Anne Hoge

Anne Stewart Hoge, 83, began her next and greatest adventure January 15, 2012 from her home in West Alexander, PAAnne was born December 21, 1928, the only daughter of the late James Alexander and the late Mary Alice Cordy Stewart. Anne graduated from Claysville High School, class of 1946, and in 1947 graduated from Washington Female Seminary. She was a member of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church since 1948 and served as an Elder there for many years. Anne was one of the first women to be ordained as an Elder at this Church. Anne retired as Director of the American Red Cross, Washington Chapter, in 1993 after 18 years of faithful service. She was also a school board director during the McGuffey jointure in the 1960's.Anne was the Matriarch of her family and was very much in charge of all the family's comings and goings. Anne passed away in her Husband's loving arms to find rest in the comfort and peace of God's embrace.Surviving is her faithful Husband of 64 years, Donald S. Hoge. Anne is survived by one son, Garrett S. Hoge and wife Anita Bongiorni Hoge, of McMurray, and their children: Garrett Hoge II, Jessica Hoge, and Allison (Adam Kukic) Hoge. Also surviving is one daughter, Lynne H. Glessner and husband Franklin, of Washington, their children: Dana (J.D. Batove) Glessner, Amy (Nicholas) Snyder, and Erin (John McCormick) Glessner, and one great-grandson, Gavin Allen McCormick. Anne is survived by and will be sadly missed by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carl (Ann) Hoge; Wayne (Louise) Hoge; special life long friend and sister-in-law Judy (Phil) Daly; deceased are one sister-in-law Frances Stewart, and one brother-in-law James Hoge. Also surviving are many devoted and loving nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to the West Alexander Presbyterian Church, 108 Main Street, West Alexander, PA, 15376, 724-484-7542.
