Anita F. (Nita) Wheat, 83, of West Alexander, Pa. died at 1:40 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 in the Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, Pa. after being hospitalized since August.She was born September 22, 1925 in West Liberty, W.VA. a daughter of Alva Roy and Wanda Virginia Lyons Dixon and had lived in the West Alexander area most of her life.Mrs. Wheat was a member and former auditor of the West Alexander Presbyterian Church.She enjoyed raising flowers and gardening as long as her health permitted.Mrs. Wheat was a member of the West Alexander American Legion Post 656 Auxiliary.She was a 1943 graduate of the former Triadelphia (W.Va.) High School.Mrs. Wheat was a former employee of the AAA office in Wheeling, and served as a secretary at the former West Alexander High School and the former West Alexander U.P. Church and was last employed for over 20 years at the former First National Bank in West Alexander prior to retiring in 1991.On September 11, 1944 she married Robert Clark Wheat who died in August 1991.Surviving are two sons, Robert C. Wheat, Jr., husband of Margaret Wheat of West Alexander and Richard C., husband of Kelly Wheat of Valley Grove, W.Va.; one sister, Betty Jean Davis of West Alexander; four grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a brother, James L. Dixon.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the West Alexander Presbyterian Church, 108 Main St., PO Box 303, West Alexander, Pa. 15376.
