Allen Rush

Allen T. "Tom" Rush, 69, of West Finley Twp. Washington Co. Pa. died unexpectedly at 9:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2009 in his home.He was born February 24, 1940 in Morris Twp. Greene Co. (Nineveh) Pa. a son of the late Alvie Melvin Rush, Sr. and Nellie Elizabeth Beabout Rush.Mr. Rush had resided in Washington and West Alexander, Pa., Triadelphia, W.Va. and Brunswick, Ohio prior to returning to the West Finley area in June 2007.He was a former member of the Beulah Baptist Church and was a 1959 graduate of West Greene High School.Mr. Rush was employed by the former Brockway Glass in Washington from 1959 until the plant closed in 1984 and was last employed as a custodian/cashier by the former Exit 2 Truck Stop at Claysville, Pa. from 1984 until retiring in 2001.He enjoyed the time with his grandchildren and watching them in sporting events, walking and attending flea markets and yard sales.On June 19, 1965 he married Jacqueline Audrey "Jackie" Fonner who died October 29, 2006.Surviving are a son, Thomas A., husband of Thresia Rush of West Finley; three daughters, Tammy Rush, Tina, wife of James Wright and Cynthia Jo-Ann Wiley, companion of James Price all of Washington; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are a son, Timothy Stewart Rush who died at birth; four brothers, Calvin S. "Bud" Rush, Leo F. "Red" Rush, Alvie M. "Al" Rush, Jr. and Jack L. Rush; a sister, Delsie M. Burns.Mr. Rush was the last of his immediate family.
